12. Adbrain Technology Services

13. Privacy and the Adbrain technology

Adbrain adheres to the Interactive Advertising Bureau principles and the European Advertising Standards Alliance Best Practise Recommendations for Online Behavioural Advertising. For additional information regarding online behavioural advertising and the choices you have click here. This means that whenever Adbrain serves a creative that creative will be accompanied by an Adchoices Icon which you can click on it to take control of data collection, including opting out of Adbrain’s Technology Services

Lots of us now have more than one device to access Our favourite applications and websites, including tablets and smartphones. What Our technology does is to allow Our customers to identify users with multiple devices. We won’t be able to tell who the individual user is – but We will be able to predict quite accurately which devices are being used by the same user. This allows customers to more effectively target advertising to users, so users get more advertising they are interested in, when they want to see it and less advertising they aren’t interested in receiving. We do this by creating so-called “Adbrain Identities” or “Adbrain IDs”. We create these identities using “bidstream” data and from time to time by gathering various non-personally identifiable pieces of information such as device operating system and language about the device; such information is broadcasted by the device and gathered passively by Javascript We are able to place into creative served using Adbrain Technology Services. Specifically this Javascript collects information including but limited to time zone, timestamp, screen resolution, page URL, referrer URL and browser type. In the event that the device is broadcasting geolocation data from a Mobile App Adbrain only collects this where explicit opt-in consent has been by broadcasted by the Mobile App developer. You can take control of this Javascript by opting out of Adbrain’s Technology Services by clicking here or by clicking on the Adchoices Icon included in all ads delivered using Adbrain’s Technology Services.

The majority of the information We use to create such identities is received through the “bidstream”. The bidstream is provided to us by Our inventory partners and contains data collected and derived from your device when your device requests an advert from within a mobile browser or a mobile application. We may enhance this bidstream data further using information from the publisher to whom the advertising request is made, third party data which AdBrain has bought in and data provided by AdBrain’s customers. The main purpose of enhancing data is to allow Our customers to more accurately show adverts to users from advertisers that the users are likely to be interested in.

Data collected passively from Javascript and from the Bidstream does not include information connected with or identifiable to specific individuals. Adbrain implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent Adbrain ID data being linked to an identifiable individual, including any attempts to re-construct any psuedoanonymised data such that an individual or specific device could be identified from such data.

14. Opting-out of the Adbrain technology

If you do not wish your device(s) to be included in Adbrain IDs, you can opt-out at any point. You can do so through providing your device ID to Us which will opt you out of receiving in-app adverts from Adbrain on your device. Please note that if you have more than one device you will need to complete this opt-out process for each device. The change made by the opt-out process is permanent unless you choose to opt back into receiving advertising from Adbrain. This opt-out only acts to prevent adverts from the Adbrain network – in order to opt out of any other networks, you will need to visit the website of the applicable network operator. In addition, this will only act as an opt-out from in-app advertising; to opt out of cookies being placed on your device within your mobile browser, please visit this page using a browser on your device.
